At Swiss Touch, the relationship between a patient and their physiotherapist sits at the heart of everything we do. So we thought it was about time we introduced you properly to the people behind that care. First up, we sat down with Beth to find out a little more about her background, her approach, and what makes her tick outside of the clinic.

Can you tell us a little about your background and what drew you to physiotherapy?

I've always been heavily involved in sport, and growing up I seemed to collect my fair share of injuries. While most people found the rehab process frustrating, I was fascinated by it. I loved learning about how the body worked, why injuries happened, and what it took to get back to performing at your best. That curiosity naturally led me towards physiotherapy.

Before moving into private practice, I worked in a variety of sporting environments, which gave me valuable experience supporting athletes through injury and performance challenges. Those experiences helped shape the way I work today, combining evidence based treatment with a real understanding of the demands sport places on the body.

What areas of physiotherapy are you most passionate about, or do you find yourself specialising in?

One area I'm particularly passionate about is low energy availability in athletes and its impact on bone health. Having experienced a stress fracture myself, I understand first hand how challenging these injuries can be, both physically and mentally. It's something that has driven me to learn more about bone density, injury prevention, and helping athletes stay healthy for the long term.

I also enjoy working with runners and triathletes, largely because they're sports I'm actively involved in myself. Understanding the training demands, lifestyle, and mindset of endurance athletes helps me connect with my patients and create realistic rehabilitation plans.

Alongside this, I have a strong interest in post operative rehabilitation following orthopaedic procedures, helping people safely progress from surgery through to returning to the activities and sports they love.

What can patients expect when they come to see you for the first time?

Patients can expect a friendly, relaxed, and welcoming environment. I'm naturally quite bubbly and chatty, and I believe building a good relationship is an important part of the rehabilitation process.

The first appointment involves a detailed assessment where I'll spend time understanding not only your symptoms, but also your lifestyle, goals, training habits, and any factors that may be contributing to the problem. From there, we'll use a range of practical assessments to identify the root cause of the issue rather than simply treating the symptoms. My aim is to make sure you leave with a clear understanding of what's going on and a plan for moving forward.

Is there a particular type of case or patient you find most rewarding to work with?

One of the most rewarding aspects of physiotherapy is guiding someone from the early stages after surgery all the way back to competing in their chosen sport. Seeing that full journey unfold and helping patients regain confidence in their body is incredibly satisfying.

I also love working with what I call full time amateur athletes, people who are balancing demanding careers, family life, and other commitments while still training seriously and chasing ambitious sporting goals. Their motivation and dedication make them fantastic people to work with, and I enjoy helping them maximise performance while staying injury free.

What do you think makes Swiss Touch different from other physiotherapy practices you have worked in or trained at?

What stands out most about Swiss Touch is how patient centred the approach is. The team doesn't just focus on getting people out of pain, there's a real commitment to understanding the bigger picture and helping patients achieve long term health and performance goals.

The care extends beyond the treatment room through continued communication, regular check ins, and ongoing support. It's a genuinely holistic approach that focuses not only on getting you better, but helping you stay better.

Outside of the clinic, what do you enjoy doing? Any hobbies, interests, or ways you like to switch off?

Outside of work, you'll usually find me running or cycling for a pastry or sweet treat. I've recently taken up triathlon, which has been a fun challenge and a great way to continue pushing myself physically. Horses have been a huge part of my life since childhood, and although I don't compete as often as I used to, I still enjoy riding and competing whenever I get the opportunity.

As you take on more responsibility at Swiss Touch this year, what are you most looking forward to?

I'm excited to continue building my reputation as someone who specialises in helping dedicated amateur athletes perform at their best while staying healthy and injury free.

I'm also looking forward to further developing the Hooke Fitness bone density training model. While bone health is often associated with older adults, there's a growing need for evidence based support across a much wider range of populations. My goal is to expand the model so it can benefit individuals with a variety of medical backgrounds and bone health concerns, not just the elderly.

Is there anything you would want a new patient to know about you before their first appointment?

I will always give every patient my full effort, expertise, and support throughout their rehabilitation journey. However, successful rehab is a partnership. I can provide the assessment, guidance, treatment, and plan, but the real progress happens when patients commit to the work outside the clinic as well. If you're willing to put the effort into your rehabilitation, I'll do everything I can to help you achieve your goals, return to the activities you love, and stay fit and healthy long after your treatment has finished.
