At Swiss Touch, the relationship between a patient and their physiotherapist sits at the heart of everything we do. Continuing our series introducing the people behind that care, we sat down with Georgie, Senior Physiotherapist at our Kensington clinic, to find out more about her background, her approach, and what makes her tick outside of the clinic.

Can you tell us a little about your background and what drew you to physiotherapy?

I've always been a sporty person, so from a young age I was interested in how the body moves and performs. One of my biggest influences was my grandmother, whose motto "listen to your body" was always ringing in my head. That simple piece of advice sparked my curiosity about understanding what our bodies are telling us and how we can help them function at their best.

Physiotherapy felt like the perfect fit because it combines my passion for health, movement, and exercise with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in people's lives. It allows me to use my interests in a practical way while helping others overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

As Senior Physiotherapist at our Kensington clinic, what does a typical week look like for you?

No two weeks are exactly the same, which is something I really enjoy. A large part of my week is spent working with regular clients who I see on a weekly or twice-weekly basis, helping them progress through their rehabilitation and supporting their long-term health goals. Alongside that, I also assess and treat new clients with a wide variety of injuries and conditions.

My treatments are tailored to each individual and often include a combination of gym-based rehabilitation, Pilates-based exercises, and/or hands-on therapy such as massage and acupuncture, depending on what will benefit the patient most.

Outside of clinical work, I spend time on administrative tasks, including responding to emails and completing reports for insurers like Bupa. I also support the wider business by assisting with social media content and other projects that help the clinic continue to grow and connect with our community.

What areas of physiotherapy are you most passionate about, or do you find yourself specialising in?

As an enthusiastic skier myself, I have a particular interest in ski-related injuries and helping people prepare for the slopes. I love working with patients to improve their strength, mobility, balance, and confidence so they can enjoy their ski holidays safely, as well as supporting them through rehabilitation if they do get injured.

What can patients expect when they come to see you for the first time?

Clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they feel comfortable discussing their concerns and asking questions. The appointment begins with a detailed assessment, taking the time to understand their symptoms and their medical history, lifestyle, goals, and any factors that may be contributing to the problem. I believe it's important to look at the bigger picture rather than just treating the area that's painful. By the end of the session, clients will have a clear understanding of what's going on and a personalised plan for moving forward.

Is there a particular type of case or patient you find most rewarding to work with?

I particularly enjoy working with busy professionals who have demanding jobs, travel frequently, or lead fast-paced lifestyles. Their symptoms are often influenced by long hours at a desk, time spent on planes, disrupted routines, or high levels of stress, so treatment is about much more than just addressing pain.

What I find most rewarding is helping these clients build a sustainable maintenance plan that fits around their lifestyle rather than expecting them to completely change it. That might involve regular hands-on treatment, tailored exercise programmes, or practical strategies they can use while travelling or working.

Outside of the clinic, what do you enjoy doing? Any hobbies, interests, or ways you like to switch off?

Outside of the clinic, I love staying active because it helps me feel my best both mentally and physically. I enjoy mixing up my exercise routine, so you'll find me running, cycling, taking part in HIIT and Pilates classes, or playing netball. I'm currently competing in Hyrox events and working towards the goal of running a marathon, so I always like having a new challenge to train for.

When I'm not exercising, I enjoy taking my dog, Ravioli, out for long walks and finding time to unwind with a good book.

In the winter, I try to escape to Switzerland as often as I can. Being in the mountains whilst skiing is my happy place, and finishing it off with a cheese fondue is the perfect way for me to recharge.

As you take on more responsibility at Swiss Touch this year, what are you most looking forward to?

As I take on more responsibility at Swiss Touch this year, I'm most looking forward to having a broader impact beyond my day-to-day clinical work. I really enjoy contributing to the growth of the clinic, whether that's supporting our social media presence, helping with business initiatives, or finding new ways to enhance the patient experience.

Is there anything you would want a new patient to know about you before their first appointment?

The main thing I'd want a new patient to know is: don't worry. I'm here to listen, assess what's going on, and work with you to create a plan that suits your goals and lifestyle. Recovery doesn't always happen overnight, but with the right approach and consistency, meaningful progress is achievable. Most importantly, we're here to help. Trust the process, ask questions whenever you need to, and know that we'll support you every step of the way.
