Our sports massage is a results focused treatment designed to relieve muscular tension, accelerate recovery, prevent injury, and support optimal performance, whether you train regularly or simply demand more from your body.

Delivered by clinically trained therapists with advanced knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics, our sports massage is tailored to your body and your goals. You do not need to be an athlete to benefit. It is equally effective for everyday muscular tension, postural strain, and the physical toll of a demanding lifestyle.

What Is Sports Massage?

Sports massage is a targeted form of soft tissue therapy that works directly on muscles, tendons, and fascia to release tension, improve circulation, and restore healthy movement. Unlike a relaxation massage, it is assessment led and specific, addressing the areas of overload and restriction that are actually driving your symptoms.

At The Swiss Touch, sports massage is delivered within a clinical framework. Your therapist assesses your muscle tone, movement patterns, and areas of strain before tailoring the treatment, ensuring tangible improvements in mobility, comfort, and recovery rather than a generic routine.

The result is a treatment that is deeply therapeutic yet purposeful. Many clients find our sessions relaxing, but the focus is always on results, helping your body recover, adapt, and perform.

Signs You May Benefit

If any of the following sound familiar, sports massage may be a valuable addition to your routine.

  • Persistent muscle tightness that does not ease with stretching
  • Aching or heavy muscles after training
  • Reduced flexibility or a feeling of restriction
  • Recurring tension in the neck, shoulders, or back
  • Slow recovery between workouts or events
  • Niggling areas that flare up with activity
  • Stress that you carry physically in your muscles

Common Causes of Muscular Tension

The tension and restrictions we treat usually build up gradually from everyday demands.

What Happens During Treatment

Every sports massage begins with a brief assessment so the treatment is targeted to what your body actually needs that day.

1

Consultation & Assessment

We discuss your goals, training, and any areas of concern, then assess muscle tone and movement to identify areas of overload.

2

Tailored Treatment Plan

We agree the focus of the session, whether that is recovery, injury prevention, performance, or relief of specific tension.

3

Hands On Techniques

Using a combination of deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, and stretching, we release restrictions and restore healthy movement.

4

Feedback & Communication

We work within your comfort level throughout, adjusting pressure and technique based on your feedback.

5

Aftercare Guidance

You leave with practical advice on hydration, movement, and self care to extend the benefits of your treatment.

What to Expect After Treatment

It is normal to feel slightly tender for 24 to 48 hours after a deeper treatment, particularly if we have worked on areas of significant tension. This usually settles quickly and is followed by a feeling of lightness, improved mobility, and reduced tightness.

Staying well hydrated and keeping gently active helps your body respond to the treatment. For ongoing concerns or high training loads, regular sessions provide the greatest benefit, keeping soft tissue healthy and helping you stay ahead of injury.

  • Improved flexibility and range of movement
  • Reduced muscular tension and soreness
  • A greater sense of physical ease and recovery
  • Practical self care guidance to maintain results

Techniques We Use

We combine a range of advanced manual techniques, selected to match your goals and the state of your tissue.

Focused pressure on tight, tender points to release referred pain and restore function.

Assisted Stretching

Guided stretches to improve flexibility and lengthen tight muscle groups.

Sports Specific Techniques
